Church Staff

Pastor, Reverend Tim Woycik

“Please know that my wife Chris and I regard this appointment as a wonderful opportunity to share ministry with you in and around the Leland community, the Northern Waters District, and the Michigan Annual Conference.  I have served as a pastor in the Michigan Conference since 1983.

I have been privileged to serve at Whitmore Lake (near Ann Arbor), Ortonville (in Oakland County), State Street UMC (Saginaw), AuGres/Twining: Trinity UMC, and most recently at Chesaning: Trinity UMC. I enjoy the challenges of preaching and teaching in ways that can apply to our everyday life. I like to sing when the opportunity presents itself.

My wife, Chris, and I are involved in the Brady Campaign as well as “Moms Demand Action”, a group that works for sensible gun legislation in an effort to curb gun violence.

In our leisure time, Chris and I enjoy playing golf – although I cannot say that we are anywhere near skilled golfers. We enjoy spending time with family (9 grandchildren!), reading, laughing, and just being at home. Chris enjoys good movies, while I enjoy watching the Tigers, the Red Wings, the Pistons, the Lions, and Michigan State sports on television.

Director of Music and Worship, Margaret Bell

Margaret Bell has served as Director of Music and Worship at Leland Community UMC since January 2014. In addition to her work at LCUMC, she has been the director of the Leelanau Children’s Choir/Leelanau Youth Ensemble for 25 years. Margaret also has a private studio where she teaches piano and voice.

Margaret’s faith walk began when she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior and was baptized at eight years old. She has walked with Jesus from that day on and is passionate about her ministry of almost four decades, being on staff in churches both in Illinois and northern Michigan. She feels so fortunate to be a part of this warm, friendly, and welcoming church!

Administrative Assistant, Sherry Wolin

“God is great all the time and has led me to my position here at LCUMC. God has led me to where he wants and needs me to be and I am excited to share my love for Christ with everyone I encounter each day, oftentimes without using words.

I became the Administrative Assistant in 2014 and enjoy bringing the gifts of administration that God has blessed me with to LCUMC.

In my free time, my greatest joy is spending time with my family, cooking, traveling, camping, and serving others. My husband, Rich, and I have five grown adult children, Kyle, Danielle, Arthur, Ryan, Clayton, and one beautiful granddaughter, Lauren. My life has always focused on children and youth and I believe that is why God has called me to share Christ’s love for our youth and children here at LCUMC and in our greater community. God has been faithful to me by leading me and opening doors, I pray you would get to experience Him as well.”
