The Leland Community United Methodist Church has a number of volunteer committees for members of the congregation to work together, in faith, to live out the mission and vision of the church. Our committees are a great way to get involved with the church, meet new friends, and serve the community.
Contact the church office for more information on our church committees and how you can help make a difference. Look for the membership of our Church Council and Committees below.
LCUMC Church Council
The Church Council functions as a board of directors overseeing the operation and financial condition our parish. It works collaboratively with the Pastor to set the direction and activities of the Church. The Council is comprised of the chairs of the key committees and a few at large members.
The Hospitality Team is a vital part of our church. The team is made up of volunteers who provide receptions for families following funerals and/or memorial services. We strive to make a warm welcoming environment for our families following our Worship services during our Friendship Coffee hour in the Fellowship Hall. Members of our team often are working behind the scenes at LCUMC.
The Hospitality team hosts our annual Teacher Appreciation Luncheon for Leland Public school and the Leelanau Children’s Center. Additionally, we provide receptions for various other church occasions as requested.
Please contact Connie Nelson by calling the church office, if you would like to volunteer and/or assist us to provide refreshments to the congregation.
Missions & Outreach
Our Music Ministry is led by Margaret Bell. Margaret is inspired to share her love of music by leading the Sanctuary Choir and planning special music to enhance worship. Learn more about our Music Ministry here.
“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter 4:10
Congregational Care is a group of individuals who work closely with the church prayer list to make a connection with folks who may need expressions of support. This includes those facing or recovering from surgery, those who are ill, home bound, grieving, or experiencing some difficulty.
We write notes, send cards, and make phone calls to touch base. We visit our members in nursing homes. We work with the Hospitality Committee to establish meal trains and get the word out when members are in need. We meet once a month and always have coffee and a bite of something wonderful to sustain us. Join us!
Please contact Chair Merri Lynn Bouckaert by calling the church office with any questions.
Led by the Pastor, the Worship Team assists with prayer, planning, vision and hands-on help in worship, supported by the Director of Music. We hope you will come!
