Joining the Leland Community United Methodist Church

How do I become a member of the Leland Community United Methodist Church?

Joining a church is an important step in your faith journey. As a United Methodist congregation, we believe that our growth in faith and life is deeply connected to being in community with one another. This belief is rooted in the teachings of John Wesley, who emphasized that Christianity is a social religion. Our church is a place where we can support each other, grow together, and serve as the body of Christ in the world.

For United Methodists, membership means actively participating in a local church. When you become a member, you commit to supporting our congregation through your prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness.

The process of becoming a member is a special time of preparation and commitment, and we welcome you to join us. Here are the different ways you can become a member of our church:

  • If you have never been baptized, our pastor will help you prepare for baptism.

  • If you were baptized as a child, you will reaffirm your baptismal vows as you make your membership vows.

  • If you are a member of another church, you can transfer your membership to the Leland Community United Methodist Church.

  • If you are a member of a Christian church that doesn’t transfer memberships, you can be received as a new member by making a profession of faith.

Talk with our pastor about becoming a member. They can answer your questions and help you decide your next steps.
